Bio / Chemistry

Sustainable growth, the rise of the bio / chemical industry

Now

  • Face limitations on the petrochemical industry
  • Climate Change & Strengthening of Environmental Regulations
  • Import dependence on raw materials

Future

  • Sustainable Green Growth
  • Increased demand for biochemicals
  • Raw material supply – Need to establish integrated production system

Challenge

Due to climate change and environmental regulations, not only developed countries such as the US and Europe, but also developing countries faced limitations to the existing petrochemical industry.

Korea, the world's fourth largest petrochemical scale, relies on imports for most of its biochemical raw materials, and lacks production processes that integrate raw material production and final products. Therefore, the monitoring and tracking capabilities of the process should be strengthened by establishing an efficient production manufacturing process, and quality level enhancement should be pursued by predicting and analyzing the factors influencing the product quality in the post quality response.

Forecast

The biochemical industry accounts for 50% of the overall chemical industry market by 2050.
