THiRA-UTECH, a smart factory solution company, unveiled MCS (Material Control System) for semiconductor automatic transport solution. By applying international standards and implementing an integrated user interface, users can view and control the transport status at any time.

MCS is a system that controls transport equipment for unattended automation of the entire semiconductor process. The transport equipment includes an automated warehouse (Stocker), an overhead hoist transport (OHT), an overhead shuttle (OHS), and an automated guided vehicle (AGV). The solution supports interfaces to the International Semiconductor Equipment Materials Association (SEMI) standard. In addition, it is possible to automatically schedule a carrier to be carried and set a user’s transport rule according to its own algorithm. Through the web-based integrated control user interface, the transport status can be monitored and controlled at any time.

THiRA-UTECH MCS also meets the US public-private semiconductor research consortium SEMATECH requirements. Automated Material Handling System (AMHS) can be controlled according to semiconductor logistics equipment specifications such as SEMI E82 (IB SEM) and SEMI E88 (Stocker SEM). This is why THiRA-UTECH aims to enter the US market. We have already accumulated know-how by supplying smart factory solutions to many large and mid-sized companies in Korea.

Semiconductor fabs have long since become an unmanned process due to the influence of micro processing, and are mainly standardized based on automatic warehouse and OHT or OST. In addition to semiconductor fabs, post-process automation such as package and test processes has also become active. The post-semiconductor process is attempting various logistics equipment not defined by SEMI, and aggressively introducing AGV, which was previously unwilling to use due to speed issues.

a variety of integrated solutions in Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS), THiRA-UTECH provides Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Factory Automation (FA), and Internet of Things (IoT) that can increase productivity through efficient resource management in the manufacturing company. MCS is also used as an unmanned automation system for the manufacture of displays, Secondary Batteries, solar power, and electrical components as well as semiconductors. Recently, the company expanded its business to unmanned automation equipment such as Logistics Robot (AGV) by combining software technology with hardware such as sensors and robots. This is why we are proud to be the only company in Korea that provides one-stop service from smart factories to software.

Jeong-ha Kim, CEO of THiRA-UTECH, stressed, “Though there are APS and MES companies in Korea, THiRA-UTECH is the only company that automates both APS and MES.”

Founded in 2006, THiRA-UTECH is headquartered in Hakdong, Seoul. In 2008, current CEO took over. This year, sales are expected to reach W22bn, similar to last year. Next year, the company plans to exceed 30 billion won and finish listing. It is expecting cloud service business and logistics robot. The company’s long-term goal is to achieve sales of 100 billion won in 2025 and supply the world’s best smart factory solution.
